PFFA Retiree Health Benefits

Welcome to the PFFA Healthcare Trust's Open Enrollment for the 2025 plan year. At the PFFA, our commitment is to provide comprehensive and simplified healthcare benefits to support your well-being throughout retirement. This guide covers essential details on the health plans and additional benefits available to retirees and their families.

Crafted by firefighters, for firefighters, our retiree health benefits are designed to proactively address both physical and mental health needs. This ensures our members and their dependents have access to high-quality care and support as they navigate the complexities of post-career healthcare.

Eligibility & Enrollment

Eligible Members

Retired PFFA members and their dependents, including lawfully married spouses and children up to age 26.

Individual Retiree Eligibility

Retirees who have left public service in good standing from a fire organization and maintain active IAFF membership are eligible to join the PFFA Healthcare Trust as individual retirees.

Enrollment Period

Open enrollment runs annually from January 1 to December 31. Changes outside of this period are limited to qualified life events (e.g., marriage, birth, death, change in employment).

Qualified Life Events

Notify the PFFA within 31 days of any qualified life event to make benefit changes. Contact Don Jongewaard at donj@pffahealth.org for assistance.

Available Medical Plans

HSA 3300 (Statewide and Alliance)

  • Deductibles: $3,300 (individual), $6,400 (family)

  • Out-of-Pocket Maximums: $4,000 (individual), $8,000 (family)

  • 100% coverage after meeting the deductible

Copay 900 (Statewide and Alliance)

  • Deductibles: $900 (individual), $1,800 (family)

  • Out-of-Pocket Maximums: $3,250 (individual), $6,500 (family)

  • Coverage includes copays for services such as office visits, telehealth, and prescriptions
